SCREAMING GEEZERS BLOW OFF THE ROOF OF ROSELAND THEATER OPENING FOR BLUE OYSTER CULT!
The Screaming Geezers got great crowd response at the sold-out Roseland Theater, opening for the Blue Oyster Cult (who as always were superb). 1200 people were thoroughly rocked out by the Geezers and the band got compliments from everyone including from BOC itself.
While there is a Screaming Geezers sampler available for review and airplay, the first official Screaming Geezers album with a different selection of songs and three new ones will be coming out early 2020 through Christian Dorge's Black October Records, will be distributed by Rough Trade/ Beggars Group. The single is CELL PHONE ZOMBIES (which has gotten some airplay here in Portland).
A show highlighting the album and with some free sampler CDs is forthcoming at the Kenton Club, in Portland Oregon, on Saturday, January 11; the Screaming Geezers will play around 10:30.
SCREAMING GEEZERS NEW GIG!
The Screaming Geezers will be playing SATURDAY APRIL 4 at the Twilight Cafe and Bar at 1420 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR 97202, at 11 PM. We'll be playing several new songs and we'll play as long as we feel like it and we'll rock down the house. Fear not! Our music kills germs!
A "Pacific Northwest supergroup”, with a sound drawing on such influences as Social Distortion, the Iggy and the Stooges, Clutch and All Them Witches, The Screaming Geezers have been played/interviewed on KBOO FM and XRAY FM in Portland. The CD will be released in Europe by Black October Records and distributed by Rough Trade. For release dates, watch this space.
Lead singer/ lyricist John Shirley has written lyrics for the Blue Oyster Cult and others. He has always been in bands—in Portland, he was lead singer in Sado-Nation and later of The Monitors; in New York he was a recording artist on the Celluloid label. He has also worked as a writer in television and movies, having written THE CROW and other scripts, and television animation. His short-story collection Black Butterflies won the Bram Stoker award.
John’s bandmates are Alec Burton from The Confidentials, on drums; Jimi Haskett from Theater of Sheep and many other projects; and bassist Mark Sten from the Oblivion Seekers and King Bee.
The band is available for bookings. See the contact form below.
